Borrowing leather tanning techniques developed in Europe for high end hiking boots, the top grain nubuck, features a soft hand, vibrant colors and a water proof finish. Natural animal fats are used to create this water repellency, which creates a cleanable nubuck. This leather is aniline dyed so it will show healed scars, neck and belly wrinkles, veins and other marks from everyday life. Scars and veins may show up darker or lighter than the actual hide and these will be visible on the finished product. These should be considered to add to the beauty of the natural product.
